JUNIOR TENNIS

Weekly Junior Drill Times

Red Ball Thursday:  5:30-6:00 pm

Red Ball tennis is where a lot of children start their tennis journey! It is a decompressed ball so that it does not bounce above the shoulder height of a 5 – 7-year-old. At this stage, children develop tracking skills and hand-eye coordination to enable them to use a racket correctly.

Orange Ball Monday: 4:00-5:00 pm

Orange ball tennis is decompressed so that the balls don’t bounce above the shoulder height of most under 9’s. It is lighter so that children can develop very good technique at a young age, and the court is a smaller area for them to cover. This group is about building technique and starting to progress towards play/rally.

Green Ball Wednesday: 4:00-5:00 pm

The green ball is used for players 10 and under. They are still decompressed like the red and orange, but to a lesser extent. This group is about playing/strategy with technical improvements.

High School Prep Wednesday: 5:00-6:00 pm

For players 11+ who have the goal of trying out and playing for their local high school team.

High Performance Tuesday and Thursday: 4:00-5:30 pm

For players playing tournament tennis who have the prerequisite skills of a high-performance player. Players must be invited to join this group.

Note: All drills are by invitation only. If you have any questions about groups, please do not hesitate to contact the Director of Tennis, Meyer Schwartzberg, at 337-540-8237 or mschwartzberg@lcracquetclub.com.
